Frequently asked questions
Who is enle’s decaf matcha for?
Our goal is to create a more inclusive environment for matcha customers who are sensitive to caffeine, pregnant, or looking for evening alternatives without sacrificing the experience of a traditional matcha.
How is it decaffeinated?
Similar to decaf coffee, we use CO₂ extraction to selectively remove only the caffeine while protecting its flavour compounds and vibrant colour.
Just like regular matcha, the leaves are also grown in the shade, carefully de-stemmed, and stone-ground. This allows our matcha to still taste like real ceremonial grade matcha.
Isn’t matcha already low in caffeine?
While commonly considered a "milder" alternative to coffee, matcha is not necessarily low in caffeine. A lower end of 3g matcha serving has similar caffeine to a single espresso and a 5g serving (often used in strong cafe-style lattes) delivers a caffeine kick comparable to or higher than a standard double espresso.
Where are your products sourced?
Our products are sourced straight from the matcha capital in Japan (Uji, Kyoto). Each order is carefully processed using traditional stone mills, and packaged in London to be shipped to you.
How much does shipping cost?
To make it easy for consumers to try our matcha, shipping is free! We hope this makes our matcha more accessible for everyone to enjoy!
Why is decaf matcha more expensive than regular matcha?
For the highest quality retention, the team ensures premium methods are used for the final powder to retain a vibrant green color, a smooth, umami flavor, and a fine texture - that we all love.
Unlike chemical-heavy processes, premium decaf often uses a "water-processing" method or CO₂ method to remove 98–99% of caffeine. This is highly technical and time-consuming, requiring specialized machinery and labor.
